While in japan searching for his mortal enemy Stryfe, Cable, and his students the New Mutants ran afoul of Wolverine. After a brief, no-holds-barred battle in which no clear winner emerged, it became apparent that both heroes were fighting on the same side. Since then, Cable and Wolverine have developed a grudging respect for one another. But neither man would trust the other any further than he could throw him!
