Cain Marko a.k.a. Juggernaut

Cain Marko was the son of Dr. Kurt Marko and Marjory Marko. Their marriage ended shortly after Cain's birth, and he remained in his father's custody. On one outing, both parents took him to a Halloween parade in Junction, New York, where local bullies attacked him until he was rescued by Marie Cavendish. The humiliation left Cain with lasting resentment toward those who mocked or pitied him. Marjory later died when Cain was three. Raised by Kurt, Cain endured harsh discipline and was expelled from several boarding schools. After another bout of bad behavior, Cain was sent to stay with his father in Alamogordo, New Mexico, where Kurt was working with the secretive Black Womb Project. While there, Cain caught glimpses of the children suspended in incubation tanks, but he showed little interest in the project's purpose. Instead, he dismissed what he saw as unimportant and preferred to distract himself with television. During this period, Kurt's colleague Dr. Brian Xavier perished in a nuclear accident, after which Kurt married Brian's widow, Sharon Xavier. Cain moved into the Xavier Mansion, where his father openly favored Sharon's son, Charles Xavier, while belittling his own child. The cycle of favoritism, bullying, and punishment only intensified Cain’s rage. He tormented Charles in retaliation, while secretly enduring beatings from his father. When Charles's telepathic powers first emerged, he unintentionally sensed Cain's pain. Instead of viewing this as sympathy, Cain believed Charles had deliberately intruded on his mind, cementing his hatred. Sharon later succumbed to an illness that worsened under Kurt's neglect, leaving the family further fractured.
