The mercenary Spymaster had stolen the advanced Iron Man armor technology and sold its secrets to anyone who could meet his price. Among the buyers were some of Iron Man's bitterest enemies. Obsessed with the theft, Iron Man sacrificed everything, including his Avengers membership, in his quest to prevent all who had illegally purchased his technology from using it. After battling Beetle, Stilt-Man, Controller, the Mandroids, the Guardsman, and Firepower, He succeeded in repossessing all the technology. But the price he paid in lost friendship still haunts him.
